Miracle of His Presence
Musings from the Garden

Long ago in a land across the ocean, the Biblical prophet, Isaiah, prophesied about a young woman who would give birth to a child. This was to be a sign to the people of Israel. His Name was to remind them that they were never alone.
Isaiah 7:14 “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.”
Another man (John) spent three years being discipled by Jesus and wrote this about Him in the first chapter of John.
John 1:14 “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
Before the Hebrews even fully knew what it meant to be the people of God, He raised up a leader by the name of Moses who had conversations with God. In one of these dialogues, the Lord responded to Moses with this assurance.
Exodus 33:14 “The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
All of these scripture references spanned hundreds of years and many locations, but the message was the same - God wanted people everywhere to know He is “God with us”.
God is present with us always, in every way at every moment. He is fully present, able to listen and respond to every person on this planet at any given moment, no matter how many individuals are crying out to Him. He is unable to remove Himself from our vicinity or He would not be Omnipresent (a fancy word for always present).
So this is our assurance:
God does not ever ignore us.
God does not ever abandon us.
God does not ever get too busy for us.
God does not ever get overwhelmed by all the voices
talking to Him.
God does not ever sleep or zone out on us.
He is always available.
He is always with us.
He is always for us.
He is always mindful of us.
He is always caring for us.
He is always listening to us.
(He even knows what we will say before we say it, from Psalm 139)
Only God is capable of this kind of attention towards us. We are most assuredly never alone. In this season of Christmas, remember Jesus - God in the flesh - as the greatest miracle to ever reveal God’s presence with us.
2 Corinthians 9:15 “Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!”
